"You cannot teach a man anything, you can only help him find it within himself."
- Galileo Galilei
In a time when education is all about how much a child scores and how close to a perfect cut-off he or she can get, the true art of teaching can sometimes be forgotten. The earliest system of education in our country was the Gurukulam with the primary aim to teach children human values from a very young age. Now, on the road to progress and westernization we have somehow managed to become stuck in a swamp that binds our children and restricts their creativity while forcing them into the idea that textbooks contain all the knowledge that they could ever hope to gain. But of course, this would be the result of still imitating what is known as Macaulayism, a teaching system that originated in a time when the British did not want bright, independent, deep thinking individuals who would have the ability to question the authority or challenge rules, but did require persons to be emerging out of the Indian educational system who would do an already constituted job as dictated by the authorities.
As a result, families have become ignorant of a child's creative needs, failing to teach them important life skills and pressurizing them to achieve and accomplish more and more in terms of grades with intent to make a living and not exactly to live.
The beauty of a child's mind is that it is open to everything, and instead of treating it as a dumping yard for facts and other people's theories, we, at Om Shanthi CBSE School, try to nurture and enhance these wonderful minds with the art of thinking, questioning, creating, dreaming, innovating and ultimately educating children in a manner that would not only help the child ace an exam but also set him/her on the path of life with a strong belief in himself/herself and an ability to achieve anything that he/she desires.
Though the learning experience is vast and it does not end at any point in life, school is where it all begins. Each child has the innate drive to achieve his/her maximum potential and it is our sole responsibility to guide him/her along the best path by helping him/her understand his/her environment, recognize available opportunities and deal with the challenges of life and society.
We strongly believe that our versatile young talents will not only bloom into artists, astronauts, doctors, engineers, scientists, officers, musicians, teachers, businessmen and executives that they dream of becoming but will also set the world ablaze with their innovative ideas, creative theories and will serve as a sturdy inspiration to millions. We take pride in the thought that we are the real potters to shape and mould the growth of these magnificent achievers of tomorrow.
Wishing all teachers, parents and children a happy schooling forever! With warm regards
Principal
